About the GAD-7

What is the GAD-7?

The GAD-7 (Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale) is a widely used screening tool for anxiety disorders. It consists of 7 questions that assess the frequency of anxiety symptoms over the past two weeks.

How is it scored?

Each of the 7 items is scored from 0 to 3, with a total score ranging from 0 to 21. Higher scores indicate more severe anxiety.

  • 0-4: Minimal anxiety
  • 5-9: Mild anxiety
  • 10-14: Moderate anxiety
  • 15-21: Severe anxiety
